"Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn discussed Sylvester Stallone's role in Vol. 2. He also confirmed that the franchise will have a third installment.

In an interview with Yahoo, James Gunn said that there will be clues in "Guardians of the Galaxy" Vol. 2 about Stallone's role. He went to say that people will find out about it very soon anyway.

James Gunn also praised Stallone's debut performance in "Guardians of the Galaxy." "He is fantastic in the movie. It's a very important part of the Marvel cosmic universe," he said.

Fans and speculators think that Stallone could be a member of the Ravagers or the super-powered Nova. The filmmaker said it was great to work with both Stallone and Kurt Russell, who will play Peter Quill's father, Ego the Living Planet in "Guardians of the Galaxy."

James Gunn revealed that his friend Michael Rosenbaum will also appear in "Guardians of the Galaxy." Rosenbaum's role will work in tandem with the mystery character of Sylvester Stallone.

Elsewhere, the director was asked whether or not his band of misfits will be back for a third adventure. James Gunn affirmed that there will be. However, he is unsure whether or not he will be back at the helm of "Guardians of the Galaxy" Vol. 3.

"There will be a Guardians 3, that's for sure. We're trying to figure it out. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do really, that's all it is. I got to figure out where I want to be, what I want to spend the next three years of my life doing," Complex reported. "Guardians of the Galaxy" Vol. 2 is currently in post-production. Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed last year that "Guardians" will be their priority for the Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" Vol. 2 is currently in post-production. The film is slated to premiere on May 5, 2017.
