‘The Voice’ 2013 Recap: Live Playoff Round Concludes, Top 12 Chosen For Next Week

"The Voice" concluded its Live Playoff round Wednesday night with the third of three shows for the week and narrowed its field of 16 competitors to a Top 12 for next week.

The public voted for two singers on each of the four judges' teams to advance to the Top 12. The coach for that team then saved one of the two remaining at-risk contestants to round out the Top 12.

Unfortunately, the rules dictate that three contestants MUST advance from each team. This meant that Team Adam Levine, which boasts probably the deepest and most talented roster of the four, had to cut someone in favor of another act from another team.

As a result, the most interesting part of Wednesday's show came in the final moments. Adam refused to choose between Sarah Simmons and Caroline Glaser as the end of the broadcast rapidly approached. With mere moments left, host Carson Daly prodded the Maroon 5 lead singer to make a decision despite his insistence that the music was more important than the rules of the game.

But in the end, Adam relented and chose Sarah Simmons to move on to the Top 12.

Here are the full results from Wednesday's show:
