The addition of Cable and Domino in "Deadpool 2" sets up the film for further sequels. Movie writer Paul Wernick explained how these characters, especially Cable, could help shape a film franchise.

Details about "Deadpool 2" remain scarce although one thing is certain-Domino and Cable will be in the film. Although Cable has yet to be cast, Wernick already foresees how the character can be a valuable addition to the future of "Deadpool" movies.

In an interview with Comicbook, Wernick said that Cable is beneficial to the franchise because of his status among the Marvel characters. "Cable is head of the X-Force so it's someone who can also command a movie franchise," he said.

Likewise, Cable's presence in "Deadpool 2" ties Merc with the Mouth to the X-Force. Fans by now are aware that his addition in the movie is a build up to the live-action X-Force. Suffice to say, Cable helps retain the cinematic version of Deadpool.

Talking about the movie franchise, Wernick told LRM Online that they have already considered making sequels after "Deadpool 2." However, they do not want to rush into it just for the sake of money. They want to make sure that they make a movie that does not sacrifice quality. "So it's just about quality control and making sure you don't settle and making sure you strike new ground but also tap into what was successful about the first one," Wernick said.

Aside from Cable, Domino (Zazie Beetz) is also one of the new characters that will be in "Deadpool 2." The character is a member of the X-Force and an important person in Cable's life. She fits perfectly in the movie because she is a mutant and a mercenary, just like Merc with the Mouth.

Cable and Domino play major roles in "Deadpool 2." However, fans will reportedly not see them team up with Merc with the Mouth (Ryan Reynolds) in the movie. Their addition in the sequel may have grabbed headlines, but they do not overtake Deadpool. The film still centers on the titular character himself.
