The fifth film in the Michael Bay series, "Transformers: The Last Knight", just released a trailer recently. The video teaser revealed that Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) is a fugitive on the run. He rescues Izabella (Isabela Moner), the series' new heroine, who helps him save the world and the remaining Autobots.

According to Digital Spy, Michael Bay held back on the "Transformers: The Last Knight" trailer. "You're going to see new characters, but I'm holding a lot back," he said. Indeed there are new characters. Bay has been accused of sexism in his previous films, so it seems like he finally listened to the fans. The trailer reveals a new character, Izabella, a street smart young woman who tries to save a bunch of children from a crazy robot.

Cade takes Izabella, who wants to help him fix the Autobots, to his junkyard where a Dinobot is taking cars apart for fun. Optimus Prime is also in the video. The "Transformers: The Last Knight" will also be Optimus Prime's redemption story. After floating in space like a dead metal corpse, the Autobots' leader is revived by the "Maker". When asked if he wanted redemption, he said he did.

Although already the fifth installment in the franchise, "Transformers: The Last Knight" won't be the last movie in the series. Michael Bay revealed that there will be more films in the series. According to the LA Times, the franchise has 14 stories that might see the light of day as upcoming films. One of those stories is the spin-off film "Bumblebee", which will be directed by Travis Knight who did "Kubo and the Two Strings".

The "Transformers" films have earned nearly $4 billion worldwide. The previous film "Transformers: Age of Extinction" earned $1.104 billion alone and Bay is hoping that "Transformers: The Last Knight" will earn just as much, if not more. The series is one of Paramount Pictures' most lucrative franchises. It will hit the theaters on June 23, 2017.
