Comcast Launches Xfinity Mobile Service To Take on AT&T, Verizon Wireless.

The largest broadcasting and cable TV provider Comcast announced its plan of getting into the wireless mobile network business. The company announced its new plans due to most of the customers are switching to online video from the traditional cable television.

The company announced that it will launch a new mobile and internet service called Xfinity Mobile. The new service will run on top of the Verizon cellular network and Comcast's 16 million hotspots. The service is expected to launch in mid-2017 and will only be available to existing Comcast's customers.

Comcast's Xfinity Mobile unlimited plan will cost $65 per line and the cost will be reduced to $45 if the customer opts for one of Comcast's highest end TV or internet bundle. There is a catch in the plan as the streaming services will count against the data usage. However, Comcast will not slow down the video stream in the unlimited plan as most other providers do.

The plan from Comcast is competitive and it also offers 1GB download of data for $12. However, the competitors are providing data at better rate, for example, Sprint provides unlimited data for 30 days at $50. T Mobile's unlimited plan is available for $70 and Verizon's unlimited plan costs $80 per month, Business Insider reported.

Since the new Xfinity Mobile plan will work on the Verizon network, the service and availability is expected to be very good. However, the Xfinity mobile will not be available in the areas that don't offer Xfinity cable service. So, the users who are not on the Comcast network will not get a good deal on the new Xfinity Mobile service unless they opt for Comcast as their ISP too, Gizmodo reported.

The Comcast's Xfinity mobile might be a deal breaker for many people. However, the connectivity would be great if it is using Verizon's network. But the plans are not so lucrative that would compel users to switch from their current operator.
