‘Girls’ Ends On Unexpected Note; Lena Dunham Wants Movie Adaptation But Not Soon After Finale

“Girls” just had its series finale on Sunday and it was not totally what the viewers were expecting. It took place in Hannah’s (Lena Dunham) little country house. She was supposed to start her job as a college professor. Marnie (Allison Williams) was begging to stay with her to help raise her baby, Grover. Five months was then shown to have elapsed and Hannah was by then losing her mind.

Marnie stood as the mix between a dad and a nanny as she took care of the baby to allow Hannah to sleep while she struggled with breastfeeding. She clearly was not taking to motherhood very well. This could be due to an undiagnosed postpartum depression and she took it all out on Marnie in the “Girls” final episode according to E! News.

It took some harsh words from Loreen (Becky Ann Baker) and a weird encounter with a pants less teen to make Hannah snap out of this dark phase in her life. She learned to accept that she is an adult now and embrace the life she has made for herself. She also finally got Grover to breastfeed. “Girls” ended quietly with Hannah singing “Fast Car” as a lullaby while the credits rolled.

“Girls” show creator Lena Dunham and showrunner Jenni Konner are open to the possibility of making a movie adaptation of the hit HBO series. Although she feels that no one really needs to hear from them right after the series finale, Konner said that they will do the movie if someone wants to do it. Dunham teased that she just wants to leave enough space for the characters so the audience will find them in different places than when they were last seen reports People.

After “Girls”, Dunham would want to continue writing. In fact, she has been working on a book for the past two and a half years called “Best and Always.” She also has said she wants to be a filmmaker. Zosia Mamet, who plays Shoshanna, will continue her acting career. She has a movie coming out on April 23 titled “The Boy Downstairs.”

Meanwhile, Jemima Kirk will also continue acting as she will also focus on her two kids after getting divorced from her husband of seven years. Allison Williams wants to first sit back and think of what her next move after “Girls” will be. Adam Driver, the show’s breakout star, will be next seen reprising his role as Kylo Ren in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” this December.
