The rumored return of Michael Muhney as Adam Newman in “The Young and the Restless” just got a lot interesting. Eric Braeden, who plays Adam’s dad Victor, seemed to have given an encouraging yet cryptic sign to it actually happening. He directly implied that Adam will be written back into the soap and Muhney will be playing him.

Braeden replied to a Twitter exchange between Michael Muhney and a fan. He asked for the fan’s patience regarding Muhney and him acting together again. At the same time, Braeden shut down frequent speculation about him having the veto power over Muhney playing Adam Newman again in “The Young and the Restless.”

Michael Muhney enjoyed a dynamic run in “The Young and he Restless” beginning in 2009. He was the first actor to play the adult version of Adam Newman, which was initially portrayed by Chris Egan from 2008 to 2009. Until 2014, Muhney’s portrayal of the role received much praises and became most talked about within the soap opera world.

At the height of Michael Muhney’s portrayal of Adam Newman in “The Young and the Restless,” however, the shocking news that he was fired came out reports Soaps She Knows. Muhney was curiously quiet about the issue while then executive producer Jill Farren Phelps did not offer any clear explanation for his sacking. What is somewhat clear is that Muhney has not been accused of committing anything that makes him ineligible to be re-hired to play the character.

In mid 2014, Michael Muhney revealed that he was in the process of interviewing for the role of Adam Newman again. As everybody knows by now, Justin Hartley was tapped to play the character instead reports Soap Opera Network. Last year, Hartley asked to be let go from “The Young and the Restless” to focus on his new primetime series “This is Us.” Once again, Adam Newman had to be written off from the soap.

The current “The Young and the Restless” storylines have resolved Chloe’s (Elizabeth Hendrickson) involvement in what was supposed to be Adam Newman’s murder. And, the plot appears to lead to the possibility of Adam being alive and therefore coming back in yet another form.

Did Braeden confirm Michael Muhney’s return as Adam Newman? If so, how can the face-change be explained once again? Stay tuned for more developments and updates in “The Young and the Restless.”
