The TV Series "Sense8" will be officially canceled by Netflix and the reason is just simple economics. The small number of viewers does not justify the show's cost of production.

Despite fans' petition on to change Netflix's decision, the company will still be canceling "Sense8". The company revealed the reason why it will be canceled, and it is just the simple rule of economics, the show's fanbase is not enough to support its continuity. The cost of its production is supported by sufficient viewing figures, as reported by NME.

"Sense8" was costing Netflix $9 million each episode, which is a high figure on its own, but failed to capture larger audiences, as reported by Polygon. It might be costly, but it does not have the effect big TV series had, such as "Game of Thrones". It is reported that "Game of Thrones" cost of production each episode costs HBO $ 6 million. In addition to it being a cultural phenomenon, it is also cheaper to produce ($3 million cheaper), which "Sense8" failed to achieve.

Fans might be upset for Netflix axing "Sense8", but it seems like the show has very little odds to be going back to the screen. The company cannot see a Return on Investment for continuing, so it is better to stop the production. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos has praised the producers and said that they "did a beautiful show. The audience was very passionate, but not large enough to support the economics of something that big, even on our platform."

"Sense8" might not be the only show Netflix is going to cancel. Even though there is no additional information on which shows will be canceled, but it seems like there will be a network wide show-axing that will be occurred.
