Before George Michael's death on December 25, 2016, the English singer, songwriter, record producer, and philanthropist was able to film his last project titled "George Michael: Freedom." "Freedom" was Michael's second documentary and was supposed to be released in March 2017. Now, Showtime will pay tribute to the "pop superstar" as it airs "George Michael: Freedom" on Oct 21.

In a report from Variety, "George Michael: Freedom" centers on the artist's development from starting out with his friend Andrew Ridgeley the two-member band called Wham! until moving forward to becoming a solo artist making his hit album "Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1." The documentary goes through a lot of what George Michael has been through as an artist and as a person, especially when his beloved partner, Anselmo Feleppa passed away. "George Michael: Freedom" became Michael's last and personal project as he himself narrated the film.

Billboard reports that the documentary "Freedom" will be touching sensitive moments of George Michael's career as he felt challenged on the enormous success of his debut album "Faith" in 1987. Michael will also narrate his frustrations as his album "Listen Without Prejudice" did not equal the success of "Faith" resulting to several court battles with Sony Music. Back then, the situation between Michael and Sony Music was a struggle as both parties claimed that they were not doing their part in promoting the said album.

Supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz, and Linda Evangelista were also included in the documentary as they tell their experiences in the making of "Freedom! 90" music video. Most of his popular co-artists were also interviewed like Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Ricky Gervais, Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, Tracey Emin, Liam Gallagher, Mary J. Blige, Jean Paul Gaultier, James Corden, and Tony Bennett. "George Michael: Freedom" is produced by Sony Music Entertainment UK and was personally directed by Michael himself with David Austin, with producers Lisa Johnson while David Austin being the executive producer.

Watch George Michael once again as Showtime reminisce his glorious days with "George Michael: Freedom" on Oct 21 at 9 p.m. EST. Showtime has already released the trailer for Michael's upcoming documentary.
