Arcade Fire New Song 2013 to be Released on September 9, New Album Details Still Scarce

Apparently, there's new Arcade Fire music on its way this fall. Yesterday (June 21), Revolt TV reported that a musical follow-up to the band's 2010 record The Suburbs will be released Sept. 9.

However, Sept. 9 is not the album release date for the band's untitled fourth studio album. Instead, it's the date where a new track will be released, likely a single from the record. The new LP has reportedly been said to drop before the end of the year.

The album was recorded in several locations around the world, according to Revolt TV's source. Unlike the band's last two albums The Suburbs and 2005's Neon Bible, it was not recorded in the famous Quebec church the band purchased. The Canadian seven-piece sold the venue after it experienced structural problems in January.

The most notorious recording session the band has partaken in was this March's New York trek with LCD Soundsystem mastermind James Murphy. In an interview with Daily Star UK earlier this month, Murphy disclosed that "the album is going great."

He continued with, "I'm too in the middle of it to know which way it will go in the end. But it's going to be a fantastic record."

Though Arcade Fire has not released a new record in three years, fans have had snippets of what a new album could sound like for the band. Last spring, Arcade Fire contributed to Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond with the song "Abraham's Daughter."

More details on the album name, release date and tracklist are expected to come out in the next few weeks.
