North West [UPDATE]: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Baby Name is Inspirational, 'What's North of North? Nothing'
Though the name North West makes most people think of a point on a compass, new parents Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had a deeper meaning for picking the seemingly kitschy name for their daughter.
According to TMZ, Kimye chose the baby name because they see it as inspirational. A source close to the celebrity couple said they see it as a metaphor for moving up in life. "What's North of North? Nothing," the couple was quoted as saying.
They also reportedly see the baby as the highest point in their relationship and consider her their North Star.
The fact that daddy's name is also a direction seems to be coincidence.
Kardashian gave birth to her first child with West on June 15 at Cedars-Senai Hospital in Los Angeles. Their daughter's name was the cause of much speculation, including Kaidence Donda West and Kimye.
North had been a possible name circulating in rumor mills for months leading up to the birth, and those rumors proved to be true when the birth certificate was seen last week.
The baby girl has no middle name.
In other Kimye news, West has admitted that it is true love between the celebrity couple. In an interview with W, West addressed appearing on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, something he was skeptical of doing at the beginning of the couple's relationship in the spring of last year.
"Oh that's just all for love. It's simply that. At a certain point, or always, love is more important that any branding, or any set of cool people, or attempting to impress anyone. Because true love is just the way you feel," the Yeezus rapper explained.
It seems as though fatherhood has turned the once-hardened rapper into an ol' softie.
