X-Men Days Of Future Past, The Wolverine Linked? Wolverine Director James Mangold Comments On Possible Post-Credits Teaser

Hugh Jackman has become synonymous with the X-Men character Wolverine and with good reason. He has already portrayed the character four times in full X-Men movies and will do so twice in the near future in The Wolverine this July and in 2014's X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

The same actor will portray the same character in both movies, so fans naturally started to wonder if there would be any sort of link between this year's movie and the upcoming time travel superhero film directed by Bryan Singer. In the past, Marvel has connected its movies through teaser scenes after the credits (see Iron Man, Captain America, etc.).

But director James Mangold seemed to poke some holes in that idea, if not shoot it down altogether, in a recent interview with SFX.

"Bryan and I have talked and he's seen what we've done," Mangold said. "Clearly the reality is that we are all trying to work together and make things groove together. But the trick is we were making our movie before Bryan came on and before I knew what they were up to in that film. Our agenda was always our agenda and our movie stands alone, so the journey we take Logan on in The Wolverine, we bring to a close."

Still, Jackman will appear as Wolverine in X-Men: Days of Future Past, so it seems as though Logan's story will not end completely in The Wolverine.

The 2014 X-Men movie will star actors from both the original trilogy and 2011's X-Men: First Class, which showed the original group of mutants in the 1960s.
