Tony Parker Engaged, Eva Longoria's Ex To Marry French Journalist Axelle Francine
Tony Parker's basketball season ended on a sour note (sorry San Antonio!) but the All Star point guard might have better things on the way, in the form of a new fiancé.
Parker has been dating French journalist Axelle Francine but news of his engagement, or at least really well-based rumors of his engagement, came to light on Wednesday. Parker told reporters in February that "I just got out of a marriage, so no" when asked if a proposal was on the way but he seems to have changed his mind. Parker is a brand ambassador for watchmaker Tissot, and took part in a Twitter Q&A on Wednesday as part of the deal. When a fan asked what the guard liked to do after games, Parker replied "Spend time with my fiancé." The statement went hand-in-hand with an earlier report that Parker was seen shopping for engagement rings.
The marriage-that-he-"just"-got-out-of was his three year marriage to "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria. The two wed in 2007 and divorced in 2010, with Longoria accusing the athlete of infidelity.
"Eva wants everyone to know, she's devastated by the rumors of Tony's infidelity. She loved her husband and is heartbroken about their split," her friend, Mario Lopez, apparently working as Longoria's spokesperson, said in 2010. "But she's strong."
Nowadays it seems that Longoria has gotten over it in more ways than one. On the dating front, she's been linked to a number of guys, including Ernesto Arguello from "Ready For Love." As for Parker, the two seem to be friendly. Or at least Longoria was vocal in her support of her ex-husband's Spurs during the NBA playoffs.
