Paris Jackson: T.J. Jackson Testifies Teen Was Hit Hard by Michael Jackson's Death
T.J. Jackson, the cousin of pop star Michael Jackson, took the stand in the Jackson family's ongoing lawsuit against the AEG Live company. Most of his testimony was with regards to how Michael's children Prince, Paris and Blanket are dealing with the loss of their father. The relationship between Michael and his daughter Paris was under the biggest microscope, considering her suicide attempt earlier in June.
"Paris has a heart of gold," he said. "I just think the loss of my uncle has hit her at a different level. She's in a tough spot, but we're all loving her and doing everything we can to get her where she should be.
T.J. is one of the two members of the family who now has legal guardianship over the children. Although he doesn't live with them and grandmother Katherine Jackson, the other legal guardian, he makes frequent visits to the home to check on them.
Prince took to the witness stand earlier this week, the first of the Jackson children to testify in person during the trial. He echoed T.J.'s thoughts on how the loss affected Paris.
"I think out of all of our siblings, she was probably hit the hardest because she was my dad's princess," he said in court. "It hurt a lot, and she definitely is dealing with it in her own way."
Testimony was heard from Paris in the form of a previously taped video session last week. The teen remains under care at the UCLA Medical Center.
The Jackson family is suing AEG Live under the charges that it put too much pressure on Jackson to perform as part of the "This Is It" concert series. The charges also allege the company hired Conrad Murray, a doctor whose irresponsible prescription sleep aids resulted in the pop star's death. The company denies hiring Murray. The Jackson family is seeking $40 billion in damages.
