‘Ant-Man’ Movie: Marvel Phase Three Movie Script Finished Says Writer, Director Edgar Wright
Marvel Studios is currently in "Phase Two" of its movie development but the script for one of its "Phase Three" movies is already complete.
Edgar Wright confirmed to Digital Spy that the script for Ant-Man, which he co-wrote with Joe Cornish, is now finished.
Marvel Studios allowed Wright to put Ant-Man on hold for a while so that he could finish The World's End, a sci-fi/comedy film starring Simon Pegg that comes out on Aug. 23.
"The script is all done, actually. I put Ant-Man on the back burner to make [The World's End] for a number of reasons, some of them quite personal - it was like, 'I have to do this film now, it's really important,'" Wright said. "And so [Marvel] were actually very good in terms of like, 'OK, we'll see you in two years.' The thing is, is that that character's been around since 1962, so he's not going anywhere, and the later we leave it the better the special effects will be."
"Phase Two" of the Marvel movie lineup started with Iron Man 3 earlier this year and ends with The Avengers 2 in May 2015. Other "Phase Two" movies include Thor: The Dark World (Nov. 8, 2013), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy (Aug. 1, 2014).
Ant-Man is set for release on Nov. 16, 2015.
Rumors have swirled about who will play Dr. Henry "Hank" Pym aka Ant-Man in the movie. Both Armie Hammer (The Lone Ranger) and Nathan Fillion ("Firefly," "Castle") have denied rumors that they would step into the suit for the film.
