It's safe to say that tensions surrounding the George Zimmerman verdict are a little high (what with protests still going throughout the country). As such, someone would have to be completely tone-deaf with regards to national opinion, to try and squeeze any publicity out of the ruling. Enter Zimmerman trial juror B37, who stopped by Anderson Cooper to announce a book deal and express sympathy...for George Zimmerman.

Video below:

A quote from the interview (via):

"I think George Zimmerman is a man whose heart was in the right place, but just got displaced by the vandalism in the neighborhoods and wanting to catch these people so badly that he went above and beyond what he really should have done. But I think his heart was in the right place. It just went terribly wrong."

(A common internet response to this statement has been something along the lines of "Trayvon Martin's heart was in the right place, otherwise he would have survived being shot in the chest.")

However, the news of juror B37's book deal didn't sit well with folks online. Cue a Twitter protest and petition from user @MoreandAgain. She found the contact info for juror B37's literary agent and spread it via Twitter, urging others to try and stop the book deal.

She also started a Change.org petition to protest the book.

Bowing to public pressure, agent Sharlene Martin nixed the book deal, releasing the following statement:

"After careful consideration regarding the proposed book project with Zimmerman Juror B37, I have decided to rescind my offer of representation in the exploration of a book based upon this case."
