Prince William's wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, has been admitted to the St. Mary's Hospital Lindo Wing in London and is in the early stages of labor. After months of anticipation and after a week of speculation around Kate's due date, it looks like we will be welcoming a prince or princess within hours!

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labor. The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge," the palace said in a statement today.

The 31-year-old mother-to-be was admitted to the hospital shortly before 6 A.M. with the Duke by her side and has been progressing normally. According to the palace, the Princess' labor was not induced.

As you can see, the entrance to the Lindo Wing is packed with members of the media, so when Kate and William arrived at the hospital this morning (by car), they entered through a side entrance. This side entrance, which happens to be the Cambridge entrance, was the same passageway used by the late Princess Diana for William's birth in 1982.

Kate will be delivering her first child, third in line to the throne of Britain, in the same Wing where the late Princess Diana gave birth to Princes Harry and William.

The Lindo Wing staff says in a statement: "Everyone at the trust is exceptionally proud that this historic moment is happening here"

Royal correspondent Paul Harrison has reported that the Duchess' condition is being described as "very well."

"It seems it was a very orderly arrival," Harrison reported. "There were two vehicles. A Ranger Rover-type vehicle, and behind it there was an Audi vehicle. Prince William had said from the beginning that he wanted to be alongside his wife when she went into labor."

So now that we know that Kate is in labor, do you think she will give birth to a girl or a boy? What do you think will be the name of the new royal?
