WWE Darren Young First GAY Pro Wrestler: WWE Releses Statement After Young's Coming Out Before SummerSlam Pay-Per-View Event, John Cena Responds [VIDEO]

WWE wrestler, Darren Young has officially come out of the closet to TMZ cameras while arriving in Los Angeles' LAX airport. The pro wrestler was in town for this weekend's SummerSlam pay-per-view event at the Staples Center.

The unexpected announcement shocked the TMZ cameraman when Young responded to the question is gay wrestler could be successful in WWE, Young responded, "Absolutely. Look at me. I'm a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now, I'm gay. And I'm happy. I'm very happy."

The pro wrestler then talked about how his colleagues would look at him, "We're all adults. All sports are physical. When I come to work, I come to work," he said. "Business is business. Some people might not like it, and some people will like it."

WWE released a statement after Young's coming out went viral: "On TMZ this morning, WWE Superstar Darren Young revealed to the WWE Universe that he is gay. WWE is proud of Darren Young for being open about his sexuality, and we will continue to support him as a WWE Superstar."

Young added that he isn't ashamed of who he loves, "I'm happy with who I am. I'm comfortable with myself. I'm hoping to be able to make a difference. It's very important to me that people understand that someone's sexual preference doesn't really matter."

According to YahooSports.com pro wrestler John Cena commended Young saying, "Oh, wonderful," Cena added, "Good for him. That's fantastic ... I know Darren personally. Darren's a great guy. That's a very bold move for him. And congratulations for him for actually finally doing it."

"It's all about being professional, and Darren Young is a consummate professional," Cena said. "For us, it's entertainment, and if you're entertaining you shouldn't be judged by race, creed, color or sexuality ... as long as you're entertaining."
