It's official. After months and months of speculation, "Wrecking Ball" singer Miley Cyrus and "Hunger Games" fiancé Liam Hemsworth have called off their engagement.

Though rumors have been flying all year that the relationship between the two stars was rocky at best, People has confirmed that the couple have called off their engagement, via representatives for Cyrus and Hemsworth.

The news should come as no huge surprise for fans who closely follow the two's relationship. Hemsworth has recently been seen around town with "Twilight" star Ashley Greene and ex-girlfriend January Jones. Most notably, Cyrus unfollowed Hemsworth on Twitter over the weekend, which many took to be the proverbial last nail in the coffin for their relationship.

Cyrus and Hemsworth began dating in 2010 during the filming of their Nicholar Sparks movie "The Last Song." The couple broke up shortly thereafter, in Aug. 2010 but reunited in September of that year. They had been together ever since and got engaged on May 31, 2012.

During their engagement, their relationship has been plagued with cheating rumors, rumors of long distance strain and accusations that Hemsworth was not a fan of Cyrus' new image.

Perhaps adding fire to the break up fuel, both Cyrus and Hemsworth have blossoming careers.

Cyrus has been hard at work promoting her upcoming album "Bangerz." She walked the VMAs red carpet with producer Mike Will Made It, showing that she's more focused on her career than personal life. "Bangerz" is set to drop on Oct. 8 in the US.

Hemsworth, meanwhile, is preparing to promote the second "Hunger Games" film, "Catching Fire," which is due out Nov. 22.
