Lorde Tumblr Clears Up Taylor Swift Criticism: 'Royals' Singer Apologizes for 'Not Thinking Too Hard Before I Speak,' Fan of '22' Songstress

"Royals" singer Lorde sure does have some choice words for her fellow female musicians. Last week, it came to light that she was no fan of Selena Gomez and her "Stars Dance" single "Come & Get It." Then, in a recent interview with Metro magazine, she said, "Taylor Swift is so flawless and so unattainable, and I don't think it's breeding anything good in young girls."

Though Swift's fans have taken the statement on the "22" singer's looks to be nothing but an insult, Lorde insists that was not the case. The 16-year-old New Zealander cleared up what she meant by that statement on her Tumblr account earlier this week after a fan asked her to clear up the controversial comments.

"I think I cocked that up a bit and what I said wasn't put in context, also. What I meant was: there's a lot of importance placed on physical perfection in this industry, and I wish my favourite stars didn't look perfect because I think fans (me included) have these feelings of worthlessness, like they'll never be as pretty/talented/whatever, as a result of this intense Photoshop culture and the endless strive for perfection," explained Lorde.

So, it seems as though she is, in fact, a fan of Swift, she just wished she could relate more!

Lorde then explained that her newness to stardom means she will inevitably slip up. "I am very very new to this whole thing. I will probably never be the kind of role model for my fans that TS is for hers. I admire her very much for this reason," she wrote. "Basically, this is an apology for not thinking too hard before I speak."
