'Terminator 5' role for Sarah Connor: Emilia Clarke or Brie Larson?

Last time we talked about the reboot trilogy Terminator 5 (tentative title), rumors were that Emilia Clarke would land the role of Sarah Connor. Deadline.com is now adding to the substantial prediction that Clarke has the biggest "edge." Alan Taylor will be the director on the film, and he has previously worked with Clarke in HBO's Game of Thrones, where she plays Daenerys Targaryen, the last confirmed member of the ancient Targaryen Dynasty. Don't be fooled by the silvery blonde hair, she's often brunette in real life.

Brie Larson has been gaining a lot of film acclaim for her starring role in the indie film Short-Term 12. She picked up a Best Actress Award at the IFP Gotham Independent Film Awards, which raises the question, is she in the Oscar running? Larson has also been in 21 Jump Street and on the Showtime series, The United States of Tara. Clarke and Larson both tested for the producers are the top two, it appears Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) isn't in the running as she was before. The character undergoes a lot of changes throughout the Terminator storyline, so the role requires emotional depth in addition to the very visible physical action.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is confirmed for the lead in the July 2015 release. Yes, we said 2015...we've got some time to kill.

Earlier we reported that the father of John Connor, Kyle Reese, could be played by Garrett Hedlund. IMDB notes that other possible fits for the part were Nicholas Hoult (X Men movies, About a Boy) and Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights). Still no official word on Tom Hardy for John Connor, he was apparently the top choice for this role.

Filming is scheduled for early 2014 and the film premiere has reportedly been pushed to not compete with the big release of Independence Day 2.

If you were a casting director, who would you pick for these parts?
