Meredith Baxter gets married to longtime partner in Los Angeles

According to People, Meredith Baxter is a married woman. The Family Ties stars jumped the broom with her longtime partner, Nancy Locke, Sunday.

It was reported that the nuptials took place in an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles. The romantic event took place with close friends and family there in support as the ladies were said to have exchanged handwritten vows. Baxter's five children were among those who attended.

This is Baxter's fourth marriage. She first wed Robert Lewis Bush in 1966 for three years. Baxter was then married to David Birney for 16 years before divorcing in 1990 and in 1995, she married Michael Blodgett. They were together until getting divorced in the year 2000.

Baxter came out as a lesbian in 2009, although she has been dating Locke for seven years. The two have been dating since 2005.

After Baxter came out, she told Matt Lauer on Today "I did not want some tabloid to take a story and make it up. So I wanted it to be in my own words."

Around the same time in an interview with the Advocate, Baxter noted she'd been living a fairly open gay lifestyle for years before deciding to go public.

Baxter is best known for playing Elyse Keaton, mom to Michael J. Fox's Alex P. Keaton on the 1980s sitcom Family Ties. Locke is a building contractor with completed projects in the Los Angeles area.

Best of luck to those two and congrats on tying the knot!
