Lady Gaga performs 'Applause' unplugged on Japanese TV

Lady Gaga summoned up her inner Babs in a stripped down performance of her ARTPOP single "Applause" on the Japanese television show Sukkiri.

Gaga performed the ARTPOP track seated at a piano and surrounded by lookalike mannequins. The beginning is a little showtune-y, but it really picks up at the beginning of the first chorus, showcasing the sort of classically-trained talent that got Gaga into the Tisch School Of The Arts when she was just Stefani.

The best moment of the whole performance comes when Gaga goes full Meat Loaf on the final chorus, barking and bellowing and pounding the keys. From a performer whose public image is so meticulously controlled, that sort of outburst of emotion is always interesting to see.

What do you think of Gaga;s unplugged performance? Did it beat out Action Bronson's?

Sound off in the comments.
