This SNL promo with veteran host John Goodman alludes to a hilarious episode

This coming Saturday, veteran host John Goodman will grace the set of Saturday Night Live once more. It will be his 13th time hosting, which puts him close up there with the big guys like Alec Baldwin, who has hosted 16 times, and Steve Martin at 15 times hosting.

It's been 12 years since Goodman jumped into the mayhem of live television with the show. The last time he hosted, Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler had just been hired as cast members. Yeah. That's how fast things have changed, or maybe just how long it's been since he hosted. Seth Meyers is getting ready to take over Late Night, leaving SNL after an admirable run, and Amy Poehler, well, she's just a star at this point.

SNL always does a brief promo before each coming episode, designed as a series of comical outtakes, and this one with Goodman is especially funny, proving that he really does have a knack for the show's nature. Familiar fans of his performances in the '90s are likely crossing their fingers that someway, somehow, they will bring back his Linda Tripp character. It was out of control, just as a lot of long-lasting SNL characters are.

According to Goodman, it has been 150 years since he last hosted and the musical guest was Mozart. But this time the musical guest will be Kings of Leon. He appears in the promo alongside cast member Taran Killam outside of Rockefeller Center. They have some chemistry going on, so it looks as though the show will be a success. Goodman is a pro.
