According to some new reports, Hugh Jackman is currently being eyed to star in the new Peter Pan origin movie, Pan, as the film's main antagonist. Though you would expect Pan's enemy to be Captain Hook, this is an origin story so this time it will be the iconic pirate Blackbeard. Earlier this year, Javier Barden was rumored for the same role, so do you think Jackman is the right choice?

Pan already signed Pride and Prejudice director Joe Wright to helm the project. Here is a synopsis of the film and Blackbeard's role thanks to Variety:

The origin story revolves around an orphan who is taken to the magical world of Neverland where he becomes a hero to the natives and leads a revolt against the evil pirates. The idea is that Blackbeard is the film's main antagonist while Hook would serve as Pan's close ally before turning bad.

Meanwhile, Jackman has yet to elaborate on his previous comments in regards to a Wolverine sequel and whether or not he's willing to reprise the role.

I don't know whether or not I will do this next movie," he admitted earlier this year. "I am really proud of this movie and I am excited to develop something with Jim Mangold from the beginning because that is a great ride. That's exciting, to see what we come up with but I have a very high expectation of what it would need to be [for me to star in it] and if it doesn't reach those, I won't be doing it."

He added: "No there is not [a script] but Jim Mangold and I were literally on the phone last night talking about ideas," Jackman said. "But there is no script and no writer yet so it's a way off."

We'll have to wait to see if Hugh returns to his iconic role, it seems.
