As part of its Spring collection campaign, fashion company Barneys decided to use transgender models to help promote its product as well as awareness for the community. 17 models, all transgender, were photographed by legendary photographer Bruce Warren, resulting in some of the best advertisements for the company

"I was exquisitely aware that in the last decade, the L.G.B. communities have made extraordinary advances, and the transgender community has not shared in that progress," said Dennis Freeman, the man who came up with the idea.

In addition to the actual photographs and advertisements, Barneys will publish profiles on all of these models on its website in the near future.

"I never made the decision to transition," says model Arin Andrews in an interview posted on the Barneys website. "I made the decision to be happy."

You can check out this interview, also featuring some comments from fellow model Katie Hill, right here:

Ahya Taylor's model profile is on the website already. The model states:

"If I could describe my life pre-transition, I was a ticking time bomb, ready to explode. There was no doubt in my mind that I was a woman, although everybody in the world kept telling me otherwise. As far as I was concerned, I was just a woman with a different path to womanhood... [Transitioning] was a matter of psychological survival."
