Family of Philip Seymour Hoffman makes a statement after the actor was found dead in his NYC apartment

MStars has been bringing you the latest on the death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. CNN just reported that the 46-year-old's family released a statement saying:

"We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Phil and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone. This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grieving. Please keep Phil in your thoughts and prayers."

CNN also reports that no further statements will be made at this time. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire actor was found dead in his New York City apartment early this morning (February 2).

According to CNN, the actor was found dead with a needle in his left arm, and stated that Hoffman said that his addiction had been a lifelong addiction. Plastic bags with the names of "Ace of Hearts, and "Ace of Spades" were found in the bathroom as well with the dead actor.
