Fans of 2012's Magic Mike will be happy to know that the sequel is currently in the works. Channing Tatum is reportedly working on writing the script with his producing partner Reid Carolin. Tatum has mentioned that he could possibly take on the role of directing Magic Mike 2.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last year, Tatum said, "That's sort of where we are at -- either [my producing partner] Reid Carolin and I will direct it together, or we'll have Greg Jacobs direct." Jacobs has worked as an assistant director with Magic Mike director Steven Soderbergh for years.

As far as following in the footsteps of Soderbergh or having him on set to work with them, Tatum had this to say: "Because he is such an opinionated and talented man, if he wants to do a five-minute tracking shot through a forest, you don't want to doubt him. It would be like having sex with your girlfriend while her porn-star ex-boyfriend is in the room watching you."

He added about the sequel: "It will essentially be the movie that everyone thought the first one was going to be: crazy and fun and less slice-of-life and less drama. The first one, we had to make not so cheesy and campy; this one we are going to swing for the fences."

Tatum posted this humorous photo on Instagram, looking quite serious and staring into the eyes of a bust resembling his co-star Matthew McConaughey. It looks to be a pretty sophisticated setting for the new dad to focus on writing. The photo came with the caption, "What better way to start writing #MagicMike2 than with my old friend Dallas? #runatribe."
