Liam Payne admits to embarrassing 'snogging' practice before landing girlfriend Sophia Smith and reflects on One Direction's effect on girls

One Direction's Liam Payne doesn't seem to mind sharing embarrassing stories with publications! According to a new interview with Top of the Pops, Payne practiced kissing on his hand. Does girlfriend Sophia Smith know that the kisses she receives now used to be aimed at his hand?

"I used to practice snogging on the back of my hand," he stated. "I'm not embarrassed. We've all done it."

Way to ... stand strong on this issue, Liam! Surely admitting to this was a huge step for you.

When asked about the kind of girls he likes, he said: "I like cute, shy girls with really nice eyes."

Does this sound like current girlfriend Sophia Smith? We think so!

He also spoke about how girls have gone nuts over One Direction and how strange it was at first.

"At the first few gigs we ever did, in some night-clubs, girls were fainting and getting pulled out of the audience," Liam confessed. "We thought it was the strangest thing we'd ever seen. I didn't think any of us would get used to the screaming and that reaction. It's just mad."

Meanwhile, Liam's bandmate Harry Styles also reflected on girls liking One Direction.

"I'm not sure I understand why the girls love us so much. Though maybe it's because we don't pretend to be anything we're not," Styles said. "Yes, we can be idiots sometimes. We are like those boys in the back of the class - throwing paper and making a noise. I think the girls can relate to us in that classroom way, we're basically just a bunch of normal lads."
