Matthew McConaughey is in the midst of one the most successful and exciting runs of his career. He's nominated (for the first time) for an Oscar thanks to his role in Dallas Buyers Club and is currently in the runaway hit HBO series True Detective that will most likely lead to an Emmy nomination. He isn't slowing down though. Teaming up with Christopher Nolan for one of the most anticipated movies of 2014: Interstellar.

In a new interview with Variety, McConaughey spoke briefly about the secretive film, calling it "the most ambitious thing he's ever done," referring to the visionary writer-director and taking into consideration his past projects.

He added: "And he's done some ambitious stuff."

McConaughey also opened up about what it was like to work on the set of Interstellar.

"There's no f***ing around on set. He's a great problem solver," he said. "In that way, he's very indie. Here's a guy who could have whatever budget he wants - and we finished shooting early."

He even spoke about getting the chance to work with Nolan.

"He came up to me and said, 'Mud. I love that movie.' [Later] I sat down with him for about 2½ hours at his house. Not one word came up about Interstellar. I walked out not sure what to think. I mean, he's not a guy who takes general meetings."

Interstellar is sure to be an incredible experience thanks to the creator of the film and the person he chose to lead it. Check out a trailer for Interstellar here.
