Are the Los Angeles Lakers targeting Cleveland Cavaliers' Luol Deng?

Luol Deng is set to be one of the best available free agents this summer, but with others like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony possibly available, he may get little attention, or at least have to wait patiently for them to make their own decisions. Deng will clearly be an asset for most teams, and an affordable one too. The Cleveland Cavaliers traded to land the star from the Chicago Bulls, but it looks near impossible that he will return past what he is contractually obligated to do.

The LA Lakers have had a season of struggles and they're looking to shed some of the expensive players from their roster, and replace them with younger, hungrier players that can perform, at the right price, and Luol Deng is definitely somebody who ticks all of these boxes. The Lakers can also provide Deng with a good financial package and a better chance of winning than other teams can.

Of course the Lakers would love Carmelo or LeBron, but these deals look increasingly unlikely, and Luol Deng may just be the answer to all of their problems, and his personality could have a positive impact on the Lakers' locker room. Deng has been solid in Cleveland, but clearly he misses the winning mentality that he could enjoy once again in Los Angeles.

Who should the Lakers pursue? Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James or Luol Deng? Whoever they choose, it's clear that they need help and it may be time to move on from some of the older, better paid players that have not performed well enough this season.
