The character of Groot in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movie is a living, talking tree creature who only says three words: "I am Groot." And oddly enough, that is precisely what convinced actor Vin Diesel, most famous for his work in The Fast and The Furious franchise, to take on the role and provide the voiceover work for the unique character.

"How they were able to reinforce the theme, the meaning and the message of the whole movie in one line of character dialogue impressed me," Diesel said in Guardians of the Galaxy press notes (via Comic Book Movie). "And how that line translates in the third act is really going to be something that allows the audience to feel like they are part of this world and understand the stakes a what the characters are going through."

Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige also expressed his enthusiasm about Diesel's involvement in the movie.

"Involving Vin Diesel in this is great fun," Feige said. "He is an unbelievably passionate guy. When I called him and asked if he would be interested in playing a character that's a tree and says only three words, without hesitation he said, 'I'm in.'"

Director James Gunn also added that, despite Groot's ability to say just three words, his story will "break your heart."

What do you think, Marvel fans? How will this movie communicate different emotions and messages with just the same three words repeated over and over again? Let us know your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
