Spider-Man's film universe is set to expand with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but this could be just the tip of the iceberg with Venom and Sinister Six movies on the way. And now, the producers have somewhat revealed the order of the movies' release.

Den of Geek spoke to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, who told them about the future of the Spidey film series. The site asked what the plan is once director Marc Webb departs the series. Webb has confirmed he would direct The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016; however, he has said he would not direct The Amazing Spider-Man 4, which is scheduled for release on May 4, 2018.

Tolmach, though, said plans are changing because Sony has announced Venom and Sinister Six movies since it scheduled the third and fourth Spidey movies. He then confirmed that the spinoff movies would come before The Amazing Spider-Man 4:

"Before we know what we do with Spider-Man 4, we're going to do Sinister SixVenom and Spider-Man 3. There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we're just not at Spider-Man 4, because we still have a whole other Spider-Man movie and two other movies. So we don't know yet what [Spider-Man 4] is going to be."

Tolmach added the May 2018 movie is for a Spider-Man movie, but not necessarily an Amazing Spider-Man movie.
