Colorado revealed its first vending machine that dispenses... marijuana. Talk about a whole new meaning behind the term going green.

The machine which was showcased this weekend will be stocked will all kinds of edible goodies and is easy for anyone looking to get high on the go. The first machine is located at Montana Smokehouse in Avon, Colorado.

This is the first machine that customers with valid medical license and valid ID can access by themselves. Prior to this, vending machines popped up in dispensaries throughout California but were kept behind counters and were only accessible to the workers.

Stephen Shearin, founder of American Green gives The Cannabist the lowdown on how the machines will work.

"It uses the same techonology that checks age/ID fraud under the Control Meth Act. Your identity is confirmed against active biometrics...People will be authorized in medical facilities before entry. Hence, internal checks will only bolster security and accounting for state and dispensary alike."

Greg Honan the owner of Herbal Elements, the company that will be in charge of keeping the machine stocked, tells Fox 31 Denver that these machines "eliminate the middle man."  Honan goes on to say that theft could be an issue so "nothing will be sold out of the machine until we're 100 percent confident that all rules and compliance are being followed."

Shearin also tells The Cannabist that "The future is outside and we're pretty excited about it. You start with this, then you start making your way into the future."

We are thinking that if they put this machine next to a snack machine that both would be empty within a few hours. Smart move on Colorado's part. What do you think?
