'Thor 2: The Dark World' Loki Actor Tom Hiddleston Cast As Hank Williams In Movie Biopic 'I Saw The Light,' Will Sing Country-Western Hits

Tom Hiddleston, the devilishly charming actor who has basically taken over the Marvel movie universe and stolen pretty much every film his character Loki has been featured in, has been cast as Hank Williams in a new biopic entitled I Saw The Light. Based on Colin Escott's Hank Williams: The Biography, this movie, directed by Marc Abraham, is expected to bring the legendary country-western singer back to life on the big screen. And Hiddleston is set to sing such Williams hits like "Your Cheatin' Heart", "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and "Hey Good Lookin'," to name a few!

I Saw The Light will follow Hank Williams' quick rise to fame at the age of 25 up to his untimely death at age 29. We should expect an Oscar-worthy performance out of Hiddleston, who has no shortage of talent in his field.

We haven't seen Hiddleston sing on screen, though his forthcoming 2014 vampire flick Only Lovers Left Alive has him portraying a musical genius of all ages, so we're sure to get a taste then. But can Tom pull off the Hank Williams drawl his fans the world over grew to love over the years?

Thinking back to a similar biopic, Walk The Line starring Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash, Hiddleston's performance will certainly be scrutinized by many. In fact, director Abraham, who also wrote the screenplay, will probably be under the microscope as well.

For now we'll just remain excited for the project until we see some footage and then be able to judge. What do you think of this casting news?
