After the unfortunate injury suffered by Harrison Ford on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII, the highly anticipated J.J. Abrams movie could be facing much more filming delays than anyone could have thought. The 71-year-old actor was said to have a major role as Han Solo in the new movie, so a rewrite to the script is also rumored. Is Episode VII doomed?

Filming delays were expected, but the rumor about a rewrite certainly is discouraging! What do you think of these new rumors? Let us know in the comments section below!

Jedi News reports:

We're hearing via a number of sources that production on Episode VII could be delayed due to the severe nature of Harrison Ford's leg injury. We understand a meeting was called this morning at Pinewood to discuss the situation, but the early word is that production of the film could be pushed back by a substantial amount of time.

The website goes on to explain that this is just a rumor so we shouldn't worry too much. Though in this day and age we know that rumors like this could easily turn out to be true.

Should we expect a later release date for the movie? Disney definitely wants it to hit theaters around Christmas 2015, so maybe not. Though if the release date (December 18, 2015) doesn't change with these filming delays, we could be seeing a rushed production.

Meanwhile, Disney just named the Star Wars: Episode VIII director: Rian Johnson!
