Washington Wizards Want To Sign Oklahoma City Thunder Star Kevin Durant

After the Cleveland Cavaliers landed LeBron James from the Miami Heat, it seems like other teams believe they can tempt star players to their rosters in the coming years. Despite LeBron's home-ties being the lure, it hasn't stopped NBA teams like the Washington Wizards. The Wizards have one of the brightest, most talented rosters, but their latest moves suggest they'll look to land Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant when he hits free agency in 2016. Can they snag one of the elite stars from one of the best teams?

The Wizards have added Paul Pierce and Kris Humphries to the likes of Bradley Beal and John Wall, but could they be leaving room for one more marquee signing in Durant? They have hired David Adkins, who was Durant's high school coach, which has led to many believing that they will make a run at Durant.

The Thunder are facing a Heat-like situation, where they won't have the salary cap space to sign new talent, and also lack the young talents that teams like the Wizards have. Durant's never been one to want to jump ship, but an NBA championship still evades him, and adding him to this roster can only give him the best chance of his career.

Despite many saying the Western Conference is miles ahead of the Eastern Conference, it seems the pair might be closer than expected in the next year or two. Can the Wizards land Durant? Perhaps a positive season or two may be enough to convince Durant that Washington is the place to be.
