The normally stoic England's Queen Elizabeth II, grinned from ear to ear as she participated in her first photobomb with two athletes from the Commonwealth Games as they took a selfie.

Australian national field hockey teammates Jayde Taylor and Brooke Peris took a selfie during the games in Glasgow, Scotland on Thursday and had no idea the Queen was in the shot. Her Royal Highness, The Queen snuck up in the background and smiled wide into the camera from behind some mesh netting.

"Brooke [Peris] and I planned it so that when she came out the door she would be behind us,'' Taylor told TODAY.com. "And then she came out and smiled at the camera. We were in the right spot at the right time."

The Queen also met the girls. "We were warming down on the second pitch after our game and the Queen came out to meet Donny [Madonna Blyth, Australian women's hockey captain],'' Taylor said. "The security guard led us all round and we got to meet her.

"She asked us a bit about the pitch, how we were going and told us to enjoy our time here. She was lovely, really, really lovely."

The Queen enjoyed herself so much- she was apparently up for seconds! Player Ashleigh Nelson was also rewarded with a photobomb from the smiling monarch. She posted the image to her Twitter page with the caption, "Second selfie with the queen - lightning struck twice!!! What a smile."

Can the Queen's personal Instagram account and own selfies be far behind? One can only hope!
