'Star Wars Rebels' Plot Details, Premiere Spoilers - WATCH NEWEST TRAILER - Dave Filoni Answers Question About Characters & More In New Animated Disney Series

Star Wars Rebels is definitely one of the most talked about new projects to come out of the Disney and Lucasfilm merger, thanks mostly to the bridging storyline between Episodes III and IV. In a new interview that came out this week, series executive producer Dave Filoni spoke about more than just the plot, including characters and other spoilers that have us all excited for the premiere in 2015.

Speaking with the great people over at Slash Film about the upcoming project, Filoni explained that Rebels is a brand new offering of a whole new "piece of this whole new Disney era" for Star Wars.

'This is a story about largely Ezra Bridger and how he's interacting with this crew," Filoni explained. "So every episode is about these guys. Sometimes it focuses on different parts of the crew. But it's about this family unit and their kind of struggle against the Empire."

Considering this story takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, Filoni explained how Rebels can make its own story with its own characters.

"We're looking at one little small group that's trying to stand on their own and how does that hook up to what you know is a rebel alliance in A New Hope?  I think that's one of the things that we're going to reveal as this story moves forward," he said.
