David Beckham, Lionel Messi Shirtless ALS Ice Bucket Challenge - Soccer Stars Get Dretched For Good Cause [WATCH]
Another day, another celebrity doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Today two sports superstars, Lionel Messi and David Beckham doused themselves in freezing cold water to raise awareness and money to combat the disease.
David accepted the nomination from his good friend Ryan Seacrest who nominated him earlier this week. The star stripped down to his jeans and a baseball cap and took the challenge in his backyard.
Before pouring the freezing cold water on himself he nominates fellow sports pro's Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan, along with Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
He appears in good spirits, as he laughs while getting what looks like a beer barrel of water poured all over his shirtless body.
Fellow soccer stud, Lionel Messi also accepted the challenge today from his friend and teammate Dani Alves. The Barcelona forward then went on to past the torch to other soccer stars, Sergio Aguero and Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Messi, sits in what appears to be the locker room showers after a practice, and gets a water cooler poured over his body.
The viral videos of the ice bucket challenges have been taking the social media world by storm and have helped to raise over $22.9 million in funds to go towards finding a cure for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
ALS, Amyotrphic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a degenerative disease that attacks the brain and spinal cord and causes suffers to lose their motor functions. According to Hollywood Life, the videos were the brainchild of Massachusetts resident, Pete Frates, 29, who has been living with the disease since 2012.
