Seattle Seahawks 2014 - 2015 Season Opener: NFL Fines Super Bowl Champions & Coach Pete Carroll For Practice Fight
After a controversial practice in June ended in a teammate on teammate brawl between Richard Sherman and Phil Bates, the NFL fined the Seattle Seahawks and the team's coach, Pete Carroll. The 2014 Super Bowl champions reportedly violated the league's non-contact rules, leading to fines totaling around $300,000. Carroll's team will lose 2 minicamp practice days next year, placing a bit of a damper on the upcoming 2014 - 2015 season.
National Insider correspondent for the NFL, Ian Rapoport, tweeted this news this week:
.@NFL requested the tapes of their #Seahawks practices, which included a fight, deemed CBA violations to have occurred. They appealed & lost

ESPN reports:
Carroll's fine was at least $100,000 and the Seahawks were docked over $200,000 while the team will lose at least two minicamp practices next season because it had excessive contact between players during a June 18 practice, per sources.
According to a source talking to Pro Football Talk, "Coaches were coaching contact," and that the practices were "way too aggressive."
In light of this news, what do you think this means for the upcoming season opener against the Green Bay Packers? Will the fines weigh heavy on the Super Bowl champions or can they brush it all off and defend their number one spot in the league?
