George Clooney Is Coming To ‘Downton Abbey’… Sort Of

Oceans Eleven star George Clooney took a trip to the home of Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle, but it's not what you'd think.

The 53-year-old actor did film scenes on the grounds of Downton Abbey, but he won't be appearing as a series regular any time soon.

"The actor, 53, will appear in a one-off sketch in aid of the ITV charity Text Santa - an annual fundraiser which raises money for U.K. charities during the Christmas season," People reported.

A spokesperson for ITV, which is Downton's U.K. network, told the publication. "The Oscar winner has filmed his scenes and the appearance will happen 'around Christmas time,'" People revealed.

E! Online confirmed that George will be appearing solely in a charity sketch... not the actual show.

"Clooney will guest-star in a Downton Abbey sketch scene for ITV's Christmas charity initiative 'Text Santa,' which will be set in Highclere Castle, the setting for Downton Abbey. While it would be absolutely incredible to see Clooney show up in an actual episode of Downton Abbey, this is purely a standalone film to support the charity," the publication explained.

Even though he isn't appearing on the actual British-based show, he is marrying a Brit, Amal Alamuddin within the next couple of weeks in Italy.

"George and Amal are trying to keep things very low-key but they also aren't really trying to hide this, it doesn't seem. I think it's like they want the people they love to know that this is real, that they plan on being together forever," a source told People after George popped the question this spring.
