Andrew Kreisberg, Katherine Walczak's 'The Flash: Season Zero' Takes DC Comics Superhero To Digital Print!
Before the highly anticipated premiere of the highly anticipated CW series, The Flash, premieres, DC Comics takes a look at their superhero's early days in the comic book spinoff, The Flash: Season Zero. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg joins fellow scribes Brooke Eikmeier and Katherine Walczak to continue the race of Grant Gustin's scarlet speedster in digital print.
USA Today got the juicy scoop on the upcoming digital comic. The story arc takes place after the pilot takes place after the pilot but due to scheduling conflict, there won't be a crossover event with Arrow. Season Zero takes a look at Barry Allen (Gustin) as he is just beginning to learn his super-speed powers, while taking down the meta-human criminals.
Just in the TV series, Readers will take a peek into the prison life of Barry's father, Henry, and his unrequited love for, Iris West. In the first story arc, the Flash will have a confrontation with Circus Barker Mr. Bliss, and his Carnival of Metahuman Freaks.
Krisberg describes their first meeting, "When he sees this strongman standing 8 foot tall in front of him like the Hulk, he gets to have that 'Holy cow, that's the craziest thing I've ever seen' moment."
The age range is a major change from the comics. In the mythology, Barry is in his mid-30s and in his prime. In the TV show, Barry doesn't know what he can do with his newfound abilities.
Walcak comments on Barry's sense of awe, ""He is surprised by things. He feels very human to me and accessible and relatable in a way that, working on Arrow, Oliver isn't."
As we mentioned before, executive producer Marc Guggenheim and Keto Shimizu are also continuing Stephen Amell's Green Arrow adventures in Arrow Season 2.5.
Update; Danielle Panabaker has shared a photo of herself in The Flash: Season Zero on her Instagram.
The Flash: Season Zero will be available in digital on October 1. Readers, are you excited for The Flash to premiere on the CW?
