'True Detective' Season 2 Casting Rumors, Episodes Spoilers: Rachel McAdams Reportedly Back On Shortlist Amidst Scheduling Problems Speculation - Which Starlet Will HBO Cast?

It looks like Rachel McAdams is still in the running for True Detective's leading female role in the upcoming season 2 episodes. Earlier this week, with the confirmation of Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell officially joining the HBO series from Nic Pizzolatto, reports claimed scheduling problems forced McAdams to drop off the not so shortlist of female starlets vying for the role. Now reports are saying she's back on the list and could be at the top!

While Deadline reported only 2 days ago that Rachel was out due to her busy schedule, Empire claims she's back in the running. In fact, the news source claims the part was offered to McAdams - though we're not going to believe it until we get a real confirmation from HBO.

Variety reports:

Sources tell Variety HBO has offered McAdams the part opposite Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn. Taylor Kitsch is expected to land the role of the fourth lead. Though HBO recently announced Farrell and Vaughn as the shows leads, sources say it is the female lead that many believe will have a similar response to fans that Matthew McConaughey's part as Rust Cohle had in season 1. Several other actresses have been considered for the part, including Jessica Biel and Malin Ackerman, but McAdams has been seen as the front-runner for the past few weeks. HBO could not immediately be reached for comment.

So we can add her name back to the list that includes Rosario Dawson, Kelly Reilly, Jessica Biel, Malin Akerman, Abigail Spencer, Oona Chaplin, Jaimie Alexander, Brit Marling, Elisabeth Moss, and Keira Knightley.
