The Hollywood Reporter notes that famed comedian, writer and actor Steve Martin will receive the American Film Institute's (AFI) 43rd Life Achievement Award this coming June 4.

The gala tribute will be broadcasted on TNT.

Howard Stringer, chair of AFI's board of trustees, recently announced, "Steve Martin is an American original. From a while and crazy stand-up comic to one who stands tall among the great figures in this American art form, he is a multilayered creative force bound by neither convention nor caution."

Stringer continued his praise, stating that Martin's work is "defined by him alone."

Despite his world-renowned fame for creative fields such as acting, writing, producing and music, Martin first gained recognition as a stand up comedian. From there, he delivered memorable performances on both The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and Saturday Night Live – including his "Wild and Crazy Guys" sketch alongside SNL player Dan Aykroyd.

Over the course of his career, he drifted into a number of memorable film roles, including The Jerk, Three Amigos!, Little Shop of Horrors, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and the Father of the Bride seres, among others.

Martin will be joining a number of other Hollywood celebs who have earned a Life Achievement Award. Check out the full list below:
