The Avengers 3 Won't Feature The Avengers, According to Rumor

This one gets filed into the rumor category for now, and it seems like a wild rumor at best, but it's one that bears mentioning because it could be a captivating idea if Marvel pulls it of correctly.

Rumors surfaced recently that Marvel could split The Avengers 3 into two movies in the style of the Harry Potter, Hunger Games and Twilight franchises. Now, Badass Digest claims to know the studio's plans for the third Avengers team up, and the site reports that the movie might not actually feature The Avengers at all.

Many of the actors and actresses on the team, such as Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson, are reaching the end of their contracts. Therefore, Badass Digest believes Marvel could keep them out of The Avengers 3 and instead use the actors' last appearances for what the site simply calls "something else." This other entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would team the original Avengers with whatever group would replace it in The Avengers 3.

Perhaps Marvel could bring in the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man or Doctor Strange to fill the void. Robert Downey Jr. is also signed for more movies after he renegotiated his contract, so maybe Iron Man could show up in the third movie, as well.

If true, what do you think The Avengers 3 would look like without the Avengers? And what could this other Marvel movie be? The Civil War storyline? The Secret War? Let us know your thoughts, guesses and opinions in the comments section.
