'The Purge 3' In The Works - Writer/Director James DeMonaco Returning For Newest Chapter Of Legal Crime Horror Series

Platinum Dunes' horror thriller movie franchise The Purge has grossed nearly $200 million worldwide with two films only costing around $12 million in totally to make. Clearly, we're getting a third installment soon. The yet-to-be-officially-titled The Purge 3 will follow 2014's The Purge: Anarchy, which stayed loyal to the first film about a near-future society that legalizes all crime one day of every year. Anarchy stepped it up a whole lot more than the first film, so we should expect even more from the third movie in the series.

"I never imagined that The Purge would become the phenomenon it has become, and I am thrilled to continue my collaboration with Blumhouse, Sebastien Lemercier, Platinum Dunes and the great team at Universal in building The Purge into a worldwide franchise," director James DeMonaco told Deadline, the news source that broke this story.

So now that we know that The Purge 3 is on the way and that DeMonaco is still heavily involved in the franchise, what kind of horrors can we expect?

The original film that started this franchise took place mostly within a high-tech mansion, whereas the sequel was on the streets, thus a larger budget was put into place. Do you think that The Purge 3 will go bigger for the next chapter or get back to its roots? Maybe we just have no idea what to expect from this new movie!
