Ryan Dunn's Estate Sued a Year After Fatal Car Crash
In the June 2011 car crash which left "Jackass" stuntman Ryan Dunn and friend Zachary Hartwell dead at the scene, Dunn was later found to have a blood alcohol level that was twice the legal limit and was driving at speeds of over of 130 mph at the time of the accident.
Now just over a year after the devastating accident, Hartwell's parents George and Erma are seeking compensation to cover expenses associated with their son's death, including funeral costs and the wages he would have earned in his lifetime.
The Hartwell's are suing Dunn's estate for "reckless and negligent" driving. The couple is also suing the bar owners of Barnaby's of America. They believe it was the bar's responsibility to have made sure Dunn wouldn't get behind the wheel of the car after appearing so "visibly intoxicated," and in not doing so their actions helped lead to the fatal car crash which took place in West Goshen Township, Pennsylvania.
The Hartwell's ultimately claim that Zachary's death was a direct result of "negligence, carelessness and recklessness" on the part of both Dunn and Barnaby's.
Dunn, 34, appeared as a regular cast member on the popular MTV series "Jackass" and continued on with the crew on the big screen in three film adaptations. Hartwell, 30, served as aa production assistant on the film "Jackass Number Two."
The Hartwell's have yet to release how much money they plan to seek in their claim and since Dunn is deceased, they must deal with an agent (the executor of an estate) as opposed to the person liable.
