Actor Robert Pattinson joked his way through his first TV interview following the news that former girlfriend Kristen Stewart had cheated on their three-year relationship with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders, a scandal which broke just a few weeks ago. Pattinson spoke to Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show" Monday night, chowing down on some Ben & Jerry's and laughing his way around the cheating scandal.

Check out the video of Jon Stewart's interview with the "Twilight" heartthrob below. Stewart greets Pattinson with a "cheer up" pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. When the late night talk show host asks how Pattinson is doing since the breakup, the actor responds with:

"This is the weird thing about these interviews... My biggest problem in life is I'm cheap and I haven't hired a publicist and normally these awkward interviews are scripted... I'm gonna hire a publicist."

While Stewart and Pattinson continue to bond over Ben & Jerry's and chat good-humoredly, Stewart finally gives Pattinson some serious advice, stating:

"When you are young and you break up, it is powerful and feels like the world is ending. This is the first time I have seen the world actually act that way. It's insanity. Here is my wish for you - that you get to handle your business in private in your personal life and I wish you all the best."

Stewart and Pattinson then go on to discuss what the interview is truly supposed to be about, the promotion of Pattinson's new film "Cosmopolis."

Just hours before his "Daily Show" appearance, Pattinson made his first public appearance since the cheating scandal broke as he walked the red carpet at the New York premiere of his upcoming movie "Cosmopolis," which opens nationwide on August 24.

Although he avoided any talk involving Stewart, he did sign autographs for fans and told them, "Thank you, guys, for being here."
