Erik Lamela, Harry Kane, Jan Vertonghen, Hugo Lloris & Mauricio Pochettino Firing Tottenham To UEFA Europa League Glory To Earn Champions League Place
Since Tottenham sold Gareth Bale, there's been a lot of ups and downs, but finally the team appears to be finding its feet, and that's largely down to new manager Mauricio Pochettino. The former Southampton manager has got the best out of Erik Lamela, Harry Kane, Jan Vertonghen and Hugo Lloris, and they are now a top contender to win the UEFA Europa League after their 5 - 1 win over Asteras Tripolis, in which the entire team played, what fans were calling "magnificent football." Will their good form earn themselves a trophy and a UEFA Champions League place for next season?
Pochettino insisted Lamela's wonder-striker in their 5-1 win was superb, saying, "It was a great goal, maybe the best by one of my players."
He insisted he was happy, explaining, "I only show emotion at home, and in my bed.' Lamela's teammate, Kane, was in shock, saying 'It was crazy. He's got that in his locker and it was great for him to do it on the big stage."
Kane was the man of the moment, too, after scoring a hat-trick. The prospect has become an instant hit at White Hart Lane, and the striker is hoping for more of the same. Despite his hat-trick, the attention did appear to stick to Lamela. Vertonghen explained: "I was stunned, for two minutes I was just thinking about that goal. It is 100% the best goal I've seen live. I've seen a lot of YouTube clips but I've never seen a goal like it. I think the Puskas award is already his."
Tottenham are full of a good team spirit, they know how to win, and it appears nothing can bring them down, so can they win the Europa League and book themselves a much-needed UCL placed?
